Confirmed from Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Oceanfront area providing hiking trails, green space & scenic overlooks with views of harbor seals.
What runners say about Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve
“Easily one of the most beautiful spots in all of California, if not the United States!”
“A nice, peaceful place to spend some time walking the trails amongst the wildflowers and wildlife.”
Perfect choice for someone who's just starting to walk for exercise. Super easy and beautiful hike/walk with an ocean breeze. Make your walk as long as you want c: (mine was 3 miles) Dogs allowed on leash. There were 2 seal pups when I went! ^_^ please be respectful of the seals and just quietly observe them.
So relaxing to walk the trails along the bluff and thanks to volunteers they’re well maintained! No fee to park or walk. We were there during pup season so couldn’t walk the entire shore line but loved seeing the seals from the bluff!
A nice, peaceful place to spend some time walking the trails amongst the wildflowers and wildlife. Beware the steep cliff here. There isn't an easy way down to the beach, that I could find. Parking is free and plentiful during the work week. Weekends may be a different story.
52 acres of open space. It's between freeway 101 and the Pacific Ocean. It has fields of wildflowers and native plants, eucalyptus grove of trees, walking paths that connect to the Carpinteria Bluffs Trail, and access to a low tide beach and seal rookery. Since the preserve is on a cliff, the sunsets are gorgeous.
