Confirmed from Carroll Creek Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Great place to stroll, power walk, jog, or just sit and relax. The entire creek walking paths are pet friendly. Very clean and lots of nice landscaping. The water fountains add a nice light mist on hot days. Great restaurants and shopping at downtown area.

★★★★★ — Remo , Jun 2019

This is such a nice place to take a walk. Playful fountains, historic buildings, beautiful landscaping and delicious restaurants all for you to enjoy. For a microbrewery experience park over by Attaboy, then walk to Brewer's Alley, then back.

★★★★★ — Jacob , Jun 2019

Carroll Creek Park is a great walk from Baker Park through downtown Frederick down to East Patrick and almost the fairgrounds. There are tons of places to stop once you get into town and onto Market. During the summer weekends they always have something going on along the Creek in town.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Carroll Creek Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
