Confirmed from Cascade Falls' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Cascade Falls

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (79 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“You can take beautiful photos, enjoy the views, and walk in the shade of the trees near the water.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“The park seems well maintained, and the trails are clearly marked.”

Such a beautiful waterfall with or without water. When you come down the stairs you are right on top of it, but you have to walk down way past it to access the staircase to get into the canyon.

10/10 would hike again! But it couldn’t be today, my legs are still haunted by all the stairs. The parking lot was basically full when I got there, but there’s so many spots along the trails to check out it didn’t feel crowded. The park seems well maintained, and the trails are clearly marked.

nature is amazing. gorgeous views and a fun hiking adventure. we went during the start of fall [late september]. not much water coming down the waterfall, but still lovely to look at nonetheless. definitely worth the drive to the state park.

★★★★★ — April , Sep 2023

If you’re looking for a solid hike with a real payoff, Cascade Falls delivers. The trail’s rugged enough to feel like you’re earning it, with stone steps, narrow paths, and water crossings that keep it interesting.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 22 mentions

“When you finally get to the falls, it’s a legit view—tall cliffs, powerful water flow, and a cool, shaded canyon that looks like something out of a movie.”

🌲 Natural surface / singletrack 2 mentions

“It was muddy, as there was a heavy rain the night before, but it was really fun and beautiful.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
