3/5/22 Trip - We parked at the Visitor Center. Go early if you want to avoid crowds. This is one of the best canyons at starved rock park. There are two falls; you can walk around underneath the larger one.
It was totally worth it to get to this point of the hike. If you want to enjoy the place in calm and silence arrive early, you will feel the difference when more people are already arriving to visit. Beautiful germ of the place! Loved it!
LaSalle Canyon is the kind of place that makes the hike worth every step. The trail is rugged enough to keep it interesting but not overkill—good solid terrain through the woods, some rocky spots, and a little creek action.
Took my son out for a short little hike today and it was amazing like always. Winter time at Starved Rock is awesome. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Saw a few bald eagles along the river too. Not a lot of people on the trails and it’s simply just beautiful. You have to take caution in the winter here.
