Confirmed from Castaways Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Really great park, a little bit outside the hustle and bustle with nice views and a calm atmosphere. Walk along the bluffs and get the best of the city, bay and ocean views all in one spot!

Castaways Park has a highpoint overlooking the entrance of Upper Newport Bay and the Balboa Peninsula. I had to say wow after walking up the trail from the Castaways Park parking lot to the edge! The front trail interconnects around to the Scenic Overlook at Polaris Drive for continuous views!

Neat little park. Went for a walk on a weekday evening in May around sunset time after dinner at Bayshore Cafe. Liked it. Saw a bunch of bunnies running around. Well paved path with some dirt options too. Easy to get to.

Absolutely beautiful! I ended up here by accident but I’m so glad I got out and explored the very easy trail. It was gorgeous at sunset. I’m so glad I found this place! I’ll definitely be back!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
