Confirmed from Central Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Central Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (703 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 7 mentions

“This park is always clean and offers more than just a park for kids to play.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“This park features so much beautiful landscaping, fire pit to enjoy, lighted walk paths, pickle, and tennis ball court, beach volleyball, basketball court.”

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“Plenty of room to play/hang out/etc, no matter how busy the park is--and something for all ages.”

Love this park. The playground is huge and mostly well maintained. There was a large mud puddle beneath the tire swing showing poor drainage and the wood chips are starting to get sparse, but otherwise was enjoyable for my 3 year old daughter. The bathrooms are clean enough for a public park, and very convenient.

A large park with a lot of options. One entrance with 2 parking lots. Nice walking paths along the lake and river areas. Kayak launch, child playscape, ball park, fishing . . . Love the sitting area near the lake. The old mill with the step down water flows is wild in spring time. Bring your dog!

Had a blast at this park. Went for a walk by water played on playground. Very nicely done and well thought out.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 10 mentions

“This place offers an outside pavilion, bonfire area, Riverwalk, with (adult) swings with views of the river, an outside amphitheater and a nice size playground for the kiddos.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
