Confirmed from Proud Lake Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

About 3,030 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and a chain of lakes. Whether you’re a nature lover or an adventure seeker, this is a nice park to check out if in the area! Proud Lake itself is the heart of the park, drawing anglers, kayakers, and canoeists who come for excellent fishing and peaceful water activities.

This is honestly one of my favorite state parks in Michigan. It's densely wooded and offers many different trails to venture down. The trail markers are easy to follow and if you go there under the right conditions you're bound to see plenty of wildlife.

We camped here for memorial weekend and it was a very nice campground. a lot of the sites are unlevel but we were able to level our trailer using the tongue jack. The lake has swimming and canoe and kayak rentals. The mountain bike and hiking trails are awesome.

Proud Lake Recreation is such a beautiful place. This was the first time I've been there. The paths are magical. The deeper you go into the woods, the more you feel like you've been transported into a different time. Surprisingly, there weren't that many people walking the trails that day.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
