Confirmed from Hiking Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Peaceful park with boardwalks, trails, waterways and marshlands.
What runners say about Hiking Trailhead
“The pines and sandy floor provide such a beautiful backdrop to a solitary walk.”
“Well marked and with lots of loops to make it as short or as long as you’d like.”
Great place to walk! Beautiful nature. Trail is well done, only muddy parts is around the boardwalks. Space to pass others except when on the boardwalks. Marsh trail is about a half mile and so is the 20-22 markers.
Very nice trail and it isn't too busy if you go early. There are a few choices of paths, as you can go around the pond or stay in the woods. We saw turtles sunning themselves on a log and a few black snakes. There is a port-a-potty at the start of the trail, and a small parking lot.
Staff was amazing. Had a fire, coffee, hot cocoa, marshmallows. Very very nice. Fire pit guy named Damon was especially handsome and helpful. Trails were amazing and we had the perfect evening for it. Visit Proud Lake Camp Ground whenever you can.
Beautiful hike. Just be aware there are snakes in the area but they are likely to run away in case of any disturbance

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
