Confirmed from Chapin Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Recreational area with ball fields, picnic tables, a paved walking path, and a playground.
What runners say about Chapin Park
“The grass is well-maintained and provides the perfect surface for a game—nice and soft, but firm enough for good traction.”
“Great park and playground for kids of all ages.”
I'm not sure why Google has this listed as a dog park. It is not a dog park, and there is no dog park within it. It has several baseball fields, an area used for soccer, but no basketball court that I have seen.
Great park to walk you kids at. Nice sunny day throw on some jean shorts and that ol tee. Strap the baby to you back rangle the 5 year old up and get em on the leash and start walking . Very open in case your one of those left your child roam free kind of folk.
This is a wonderful park just the right amount of equipment. My children had a great time there there were a lot of birds that my kids chased after there's a lot of space to run around to perfect park. The neighbors seem friendly as well.
Chaplin Park is a fantastic spot for outdoor activities, and I love coming here to play soccer! The grass is well-maintained and provides the perfect surface for a game—nice and soft, but firm enough for good traction.

“Took a stroll around the paved path with my best friend 🐕.”
“I'd also like to note that this park has a bazillion pokestops, with 3 accessible at once if you stand in the right spot, and a gym.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
