Confirmed from Cherokee Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Tranquil park with a gravel trail running along a creek, and picnic tables.

What runners say about Cherokee Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (190 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions
🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“A great trail that is in the open for a safe field of view, yet still mostly shaded.”

Not a huge place not a bunch of amenities ,but by golly if you want a walk that says forest ,creek with running water, maybe a squirrel barking out orders oh yeah and let's not forget a deer or two or three. Yup all that in town within a block of food, gas, beer, prescriptions, hardware. Not bad at all.

Quiet little park just off a busy part of the city. It's a great escape. The trail is good for running and walking, and with the stream running through it, there's a fair amount of wildlife.

★★★★★ — Jeremiah , May 2023

Cherokee Park is a lovely recreation area gently tucked behind Walgreens. There is a long, wide road that runs from Johnson Ave to the other end of the park. There is a parking area by the park sign and several dirt cutouts on the shoulder of the road, parkside.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
