Confirmed from Chippewa HillsTrail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Chippewa HillsTrail
“Outhouse is always well-maintained and stocked with hand sanitizer.”
“Beautiful park with wide nicely maintained trails.”
“All were clearly marked at each intersection.”
“It's a lot more peaceful than the busy xc ski hubs on the west side of the state.”
great hike lots of elevation change. Beautiful forest scenery. Mild/ moderate hike if youre out of shape
Some cool single track routes back in there. A little bit technical but manageable by most of you ride the brakes a bit. Just make sure you’re going the right way! Pretty steep uphill in sandy dirt if you get turned around.
Great mountain biking single track with rolling hills easy and technical riding, needs more signage and more trails added to the 8 miles there.
The south 5k loop/trail has a large majority of being sand. Making it a little more difficult trail I think. But very nice and scenic.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
