Confirmed from Cicero Swamp Wildlife Management Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Cicero Swamp Wildlife Management Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (87 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Many more trails than I anticipated, beautiful grounds, wear bug spray!”

We took a hike with the kids and dog on one of the trails within Cicero WMA. Very pretty and secluded. It's also close to Syracuse, but seems like you're in the middle of no where. Please be advised there are no amenities (like bathrooms). Also there is hunting during hunting season.

★★★★☆ — Upstatenycanals. , Dec 2017

On today's 3/8/2023 "The Facts by How to Hunt" channel on YouTube Steve Isdahl toward the end of the hour or so video, read a text from a gentleman who was at the Cicero swamp with other people and claimed to hear and see a Bigfoot screaming. I was shocked to hear that these creatures are so close to populated areas.

A great place for hiking and target practice. This time I brought the whole family, even the dogs! The snow is still deep in some spots but not knee-deep like last week lol.

A great place to explore during the winter. Be cautious and watch the weather. There's alot of watery areas to be vigilant of, so make sure the weather has been cold enough to make ice strong enough to walk on.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
