We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Butternut Creek Erie Canal Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“This is a great place for an easy walk along the Erie Canal.”

This is the nicest trail that I’ve ever been on in upstate New York for a run or walk. Lots of people fishing from the shore, biking running and walking with their kids. The upkeep is perfect.

Nice bike path for easy walking. A little sunny without shade so have sunscreen!
