Confirmed from City Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park offering a playground and picnic facilities, plus sports courts and a fish hatchery.
What runners say about City Park
“Despite the construction which made it hard to access the creek--the park was clean and full of natural beauty, sprinkled with some sidewalk art and kids giggling!”
“The grounds around the playground are beautiful, well treed and the creek is nearby for kids to look at, but not too near for parents to worry.”
Nice clean park. Lots of pavilions and picnic tables and benches. Lovely creek access that is shaded and shallow for kids/dogs to play. Nice paved path to large playground and fish hatchery and museums.
Very nice playground; I hope the wood structures get refinished soon. A number of places are peeling and exposing bare wood. This treasured old playground is a gem! Thanks for the little free library full of children's books right by the playground! A little gift for all.
My kids love this park, we stop by whenever we are in Spearfish. It allows them to explore and is big enough to run around while still being fenced in. There are 2 entry/exit points for the playground so fairly easy to keep an eye out for escapees.
Despite the construction which made it hard to access the creek--the park was clean and full of natural beauty, sprinkled with some sidewalk art and kids giggling! Can't wait until the orange fences & traffic cones are gone! The sound of Spearfish Creek running is so so peaceful.
