Confirmed from Clam Bayou Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

A definite gem. Whether you're enjoying mother nature at its best, walking, hiking, or cycling. We all need to lend a hand in making sure it's taken care of. Volunteer at 1 of their events. Help keep it clean.

On the east side of clam bayau on the skyway trail. Has a kayack launch a raised wooden wheelchair accessible trail with a raised lookout point overlooking the bayau and Boca ciega bay. There is also a large wooded area to let your dogs and kids run around in as well.

I take my dog here for walks or just like to cycle through the area. It's nice because it connects to the Pinellas trail. There's a nice couple of pier views of Gulfport Bay, and there's access to the water for paddle boarding and kayaking!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Clam Bayou Nature Preserve

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
