Confirmed from Clear Spring Ranch's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Quiet spot, featuring trails that wind through open prairies, fields and woods, plus a river.

What runners say about Clear Spring Ranch

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (341 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“I love using this park as a photography location because it is so secluded and beautiful.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 6 mentions

“Beautiful, quiet, very well maintained for how quiet is.”

I love using this park as a photography location because it is so secluded and beautiful. Compared to my home, there are a lot of mosquitoes, so I like to bring the bug spray. The restrooms are great, but not always unlocked.

Lesser known nature walking path. Nice gravel paths, bathrooms, covered picnic area with trashcans and a very large parking lot. There is plenty of wildlife to see, but bring bugspray if you come during the insect season.

★★★★★ — Stephen , Aug 2019

Great trail for dogs! Hardly anyone else around, so it’s great for reactive dogs that don’t do great on busy parks in town!

★★★★★ — Alex , Oct 2024

Pretty flat and even trails with total distances over 8 miles! One trail is washed out but other than that it's a very nice area for hiking and has a park. Note the trails have no shade so wear protection if you have sensitive skin.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
