Confirmed from Concord WEST Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Concord WEST Trails
Although it was muddy from rainfall and vegetation is scarce during Winter months, we've hiked here several times and enjoy the views and simplicity of this section. The only lake access is to the right and just downhill from the trailhead. This area has a small, stagnant, rain-filled quarry from many years back.
Love these trails, I've seen bikers, trail runners, and dog walkers through here, and I've been all three. It does get slick/squishy in rainy weather ir after many leaves have fallen, as they are hard-to-maintain trails, but it has never stopped me and my sister from using them.
Nice flowing trail loop, great for easy MTB ride or trail run. Distance is low at 1.5 miles, but future addition to help. Water access is available for dogs to swim.
An easy walking trail along scenic Fort Loudon Lake with two convenient access points.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
