We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Cook Memorial Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Cook Memorial Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (348 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“I was able to park there and go kayaking without having to carry the kayak very far and it was a shady area with an clean portapotty nearby.”

Went there to vote. There is a trail to walk or ride your bike. Also, dog friendly. They have bags for the dogs stuff if you forgot to bring one or if you just need an extra one. In the summer, I like to sit by the lake and have lunch there. They have picnic tables by the water. There is swings for the kids.

Cook Memorial Park is a delightful spot in downtown Libertyville. The rose garden is beautifully maintained, and the historic Ansel B. Cook House adds a charming touch. It’s a perfect place for a peaceful walk or a family picnic.🧺

The playground is great for a wide range of ages. It's plenty spacious for kids to run around. It's not fenced, but it's set back from the main road so you can let kids run free. The bathrooms, though... avoid if at all possible.

My dog loves to run there also I enjoy watching birds and there is a wider variety of ducks to see than most places. I also love to sit at the pier

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
