Confirmed from Copper Canyon Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This was a great trailhead. Tons of parking. Bathroom was spotless. The trail was well marked and in great condition. Water in the creek at the end of the loop was a treat. All trail users were polite and happy.

We really enjoy this loop trail. The trail leads to a small waterfall in the back of the canyon and it is beautiful. There is a short path to the waterfall and can be easily missed. The water is most likely seasonal and won't be there when it heats up.

Trail is some what easy to detect. There is no signage after the parking lot, so get connected to much longer trails is a real possibility. You can always go to the base of the canyon and walk that back to the parking area.

Great 4 mile loop with scenic views. We went today after it stopped raining. You would expect to find muddy trails and that’s the way it was. Would recommend going back!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
