Confirmed from Cottonwood Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Cottonwood Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (28 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Great trail system. Not short like some say. I did over 6 miles and that was maybe half. $5 a car. Lots of restrooms and benches. 1850’s cabin. BUT!! Closes at 7pm w no auto gate. Have to call police to get out

Met a friend out there! Very nice well kept hiking trails and very friendly staff!

★★★★★ — Coffin , Apr 2022

Nice short trail, well maintained. No brush near legs although still better to do a quick tick check at the end. Parking lot had construction going on so had to park on road, but it was nice to have an extra few hundred feet of walking on such a short trail.

★★★★☆ — Peter , Aug 2020

Nice trail. Have only been here twice so far but plan on going more often. Easy to find. Hoping for rain some time so the pond can fill up again.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🌳 Shaded / tree cover 3 mentions

“Beautiful nature trail amongst wooded marshy landscapes.”
