Confirmed from Coughlin Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly park for plane takeoff watching and landing at the airport.
What runners say about Coughlin Park
“If you are lucky, you can witness the beautiful afterglows with both the planes taking off and the panoramic scene of Boston city.”
Great park located deep in Winthrop. Close to the water, great views of Boston, and plenty of area to walk around. Playground is a bit "exposed" as in there is limited shade. Bring sunscreen! Play equipment is excellent for younger children and there are a couple of sensory areas
Things this place is great for: -Watching planes take off from the airport -Playing fetch with your dog -Tennis/basketball -walking along a rocky beach There are nice picnic tables by the basketball courts, and it seems to be in a pretty neighborhood. Good date idea.
My favorite walking place with beautiful trails. Great fishing pier and for the flying geeks, Logan is across the harbor.
Lovely little park with beautiful views of the ocean and Boston skyline. Playground for kids, basketball and tennis court right next to it. Planes do fly overhead sometimes which can necessitate a pause in conversation til it passes.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
