Confirmed from Cowiche Canyon Uplands - Summitview Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Stunning, expansive land trust known for its dramatic scenery, local wildlife & trail network.
What runners say about Cowiche Canyon Uplands - Summitview Trailhead
“Only met two people along the way, so pretty isolated, and beautiful views.”
“The lower/canyon trail is more popular and young family friendly.”
Gorgeous views and a really easy hike. You cross over nine little bridges and can hear the sound of water flowing throughout the trail. Cool rock formations.
This is such a beautiful and serene environment. We especially loved seeing the Mama owl her babies. There is so many outdoor educational opportunities along this hike! We will be back!!
Nice for spring wildflowers. The main canyon trail has 2 entrances. The north and south sides of the canyon have different microenvironments, so different flowers and timing.
Nice easy hiking trail with beautiful views. We did part of the winery trail, very cool
Trail conditions & character
“Only met two people along the way, so pretty isolated, and beautiful views.”
“Retraced my steps but it seems like someone picked it up and took it with them instead of leaving it at the trailhead.”
“There is no shade so come prepared, not a secluded spot lots of mountain biking and people walking their dogs.”
“There is the main canyon trail that meanders through it along the creek and the uplands that loop and crisscross one another.”
“But the added rocks and gravel mean even the dogs should have shoes”
“Scenic with trails ranging from simple to step and technical.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
