Confirmed from Dakota Heights Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Dakota Heights Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (71 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Not the newest equipment, but a great little quiet park that is plenty of fun for the kids!”

Great little neighborhood park. Nice playground equipment, rock wall, slides, and swings. Small dirt ball diamond, ice rink, and open areas. Benches and tables available. Decent sized parking and walking trails to bike paths.

★★★★★ — Jonathan , Apr 2024

Fantastic park. It's small and convenient on 175th Street. It has a huge play area for the kids, walking trails, a huge hockey rink, warming house and a 2nd area that the city poored a skating rink. So if the hockey rink is being used you can still come out and skate.

★★★★★ — Tom , Jan 2026

In addition to the playground and baseball field, Large open grassy area in the summer, and paved hockey rink - a great place to learn to ride bike. Area is open and easy to watch kids except for short paved hiking path through trees to the East. 2 large picnic tables plus benches here.

★★★★★ — Lindsey , Mar 2022

Small, but a nicely-maintained area to walk through with a paved trail. In the park, there is a covered pavilion, a play area for children, half a basketball court, a creek with a bridge (a branch of the Vermilion River, technically), and two or three soccer fields.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
