Absolutely great! My extended family used to book our Reunions here for the "Hayes-Martin" side and although I found none of the facilities or pavilions that used to be rented I did find a huge nature trail and of course the legendary waterway.
Favorite Tennessee State Park. We go every year at least once a year. There are two camps grounds one by a creek and one in the mountain. Facilities are clean. They have site for Large RV’s to tent camping. There is a small museum, small inclosure for some Owls and raptors.
It has a good amount of trails and also shelters and picnic tables at multiple places. They have couple of playground for the kids. There is a lot to do here. They have restaurant on site, swimming pool, snack bar, campground, museum, etc. Restaurant do close for the Christmas holidays. I will visit again.
I did a 4 mile loop around the lake. The trail was easy to follow and well maintained. Saw tons of toads and mushrooms. The waterfall was beautiful and would be fun to get wet in. If you are doing the hiking trail, you should know it goes directly through the waterfall so your feet will get wet.
