We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Laurel Hill Wildlife Management Area yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
14,942-acre year-round site featuring a campground, fishing lakes, horse trails & hunting areas.
What runners say about Laurel Hill Wildlife Management Area
“Very well maintained, they do a very good job with roads, fields and game management.”
“Beautiful golden eagle, 2 bald eagles, blue heron, kill deer, loads of other birds and ducks.”
Beautiful VFW Lake. It has a driving road all the way around it with 3/4 ths of the lake accessible to fish from the bank. This lake has plenty of large fish such as bluegill, bass, catfish and crappie. There is a 6.00 charge for a 1 day lake permit plus you must have a fishing license.
Jerry Brewer and Billy Roberts at Laurel Hill Friday (6-26-20). They rode the complete outer trail (commonly called the new trail) a seven hour trip. It needs a group of about 30 people to ride it with pruners, machetes, axes and a chain saw. There are a lot of downed trees, limbs, etc.
I am from indiana and was visiting the area with my wife and 2 girls 8 and 13. Laurel Hill Wildlife management was a good stop for my family. We did a little fishing hiking and even had lunch on a picnic table. All and all a good place to visit for the hole family.
