Confirmed from Deep Lakes Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Scenic

Former quarry boasting 120 acres of clear water lakes for swimming, boating, fishing, and kayaking.

What runners say about Deep Lakes Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (349 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“The view is so nice there especially in sunset 🌇 and I love the swimming there too safe for kids and the water is so clean and clear.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Beautiful lakes to fish, the beach to swim at is also really nice.”

Wonderful gem of a park for southeast iowa. Old rock quary, so the water is much clearer then most of the lakes in this region. The swimming beach is nice and large, make sure to bring some sort of shoes on a warm day as the walk on the sand is quite long and it can get very hot.

Absolutely beautiful. Can find a wide variety of wildlife around the trail and the water is clearer than any other place I've found around here.

★★★★★ — Chelsey , Sep 2021

Coming along great. Nice and clean. New cabins look great. Nice path to walk the dogs and enjoy part of the day outside. Fishing sorta sucks but. There is fishing here to.

Best swimming hole within 100 miles. Nice place to ride a bike, fish or paddle. Looking forward to a campground.... CAMPGROUND not RV PARK

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
