Confirmed from Deer Haven Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Deer Haven Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (69 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Great, quiet little park with a great flat trail.”

Spring is in the air, Daffodils and Snowdrops, buds and bunnies. Critters n birds looking for nesting sites, lots of new fallen timber. Come watch nature do her magic. There is a level main trail, 15 ft wide and shady, during summer. Park up at the Eastern side.

for my purposes (photography of wildlife/birds & solitude) it's a 2 or a 3... there is nothing particularly special about the place, and most of the area is fairly long but mown grass...

★★★★★ — Jason , Sep 2023

A perfectly adequate walking trail with woodland footpaths adjacent to it, however I did not see any distinctive features. I brought my dogs. However, if you do not live a convenient distance from the park, it is not worth visiting in my opinion.

Never that crowded rail to trail path the runs from the Liquor Barn to Deer Haven Park. The park has an inner trail system as well. Trees provide plenty of shade, but still let some light through. Great place to bring two or four legged kids.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 7 mentions

“the little loops into the trees are good for what they are, but there are houses in every direction, so this is mostly a walking trail for locals and their dogs.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
