Confirmed from Deerfield Island Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Deerfield Island Park
“The island is absolutely beautiful, there’s a butterfly area, nice walking trails, and even restrooms.”
Take the free ferry to the island. Tell the pilots you want to rent a paddle board or kayak. Kayaking around the island is fun. Gopher turtles not above ground when I visited. The island is very jungle like. Lovely trees, palms, greenery and some flowers. There are boardwalks and ground trails and picnic groves.
The island is quite nice and tranquil. We found the shuttle easy for transport over to the island. We walked every path on the island and like the other reviews said, it is jungle like. I had been here a number of years ago and I thought the renovations to the paths to be great. I liked all the informative signs too.
I think it's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. You can reach the island by free ferry. The ferry operators are very polite and helpful. The ferry is very clean.
Deerfield Island Park is stunning ❤️ They run the free shuttle to Deerfield Island Park from the north side of Sullivan Park on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays every hour on the hour from 10 AM - 2 PM. Stunning island with a butterfly section, walking paths and restrooms.

- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
