I have so far hiked from Union St of Morrisville to Uhlerstown for about 31 miles when I did the 5 Delaware River Loop Trail hikes starting from March 30 this year. It’s always nice to walk on the canal trail with lots of wildlife and flowers and also nice houses all along. The river views are also very nice.
The towpath trail between Upper Ferry and Blackrock Road is serene nature in four seasons. An abundance of birds, both native, and migratory occupy the trees, brush and wetland areas along this stretch of path. Turtles can be found sunning themselves on felled trees that stretch into the canal waters.
Nice place to ride. We began our ride at Yardley trailhead and went up to New Hope. A 12 mile ride. Explored, dined, and enjoyed the town. Then we made our ride back. Nice relaxing ride and not too crowded. Would be nice if some of the underpasses had arrows for direction of travel considering paths become narrow.
The canal towpaths are treasures. Any of them. This is just one of countless amazing spots along the Delaware path.
