Confirmed from Deming Heights Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Deming Heights Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (150 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful view of Northeast Minneapolis and a park connected to our world-class system of bike paths.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Its a small park, but it was peaceful and just what the doctor ordered.”

This is such a beautiful little park space in the middle of Minneapolis. I recently took a bike ride through here and a few weeks later was back for a walk through the space. The trees are immaculate and the paths are pretty well cared for.

A unique park tucked away from Minneapolis. For sure a little drive off the beaten path but worth the excursion. It is fun to see an elf door, and also just sit on a bench and listen to life move around you. The neighborhood around the park looks nice. It would be fun to see during winter.

My son and I went on a troll hunt. He was disappointed he didn't find a troll to kidnap and bring home. I was grateful that he didn't. I don't even know what trolls eat!! Nice walk thru the trees!

This is a frequented place for my dog and I when he takes me on his walks. I love the little door that is in the big tree. It’s fun to walk through the trails as they’re hilly and winding.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 10 mentions

“We like doing picnics because of the views and I'm told that this is one of the highest, if not the highest, points in Minneapolis.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
