Confirmed from Doc Holliday's Grave Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Doc Holliday's Grave Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,742 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“While the hike was moderately strenuous going up (fairly steep trail) it was surrounded by beautiful greenery and a gorgeous overlook of the city/mountains.”

Glad we took the time for this short but beautiful hike. The total distance is roughly .08 miles but keep in mind if you are a lowlander like me and given the grade of about 20% you can choose your level of workout IE; not difficult but not easy.

2021 We stayed in Glenwood to ski Aspen, yes, it is a drive but the room savings paid for gas, dinner, and more. Took a day off to visit the "Potter's field" where reputedly Doc Holliday, the famous dentist turned gunslinger is interred.

OK you might find this in other reviews but here it goes... The sign at the start of the trail listed it at .5 of a mile. Itbseemed shorter than that to me but... it is a constant uphill on the way in but the trail is wide and smooth.

Awesome little spot with a moderate but short .7 mile RT hike. It's steep but beautiful. There is an old cemetery at the top where he is buried but they don't know the exact spot. The grave area is a memorial. If your a western fan or of Doc, this is worth a stop.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
