Confirmed from Dorrance Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Dorrance Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (137 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Sort of small, but it's clean and well taken care of.”

I'm reviewing Dorrance Park explicitly for its mountain biking trails, maintained by QC FORC. There are three main MB trails: Oakley Dokely (beginner), Loam Ranger (intermediate), and Uncle Rukus (expert).

★★★★★ — Traveler , Sep 2020

Another QC FORC gem. The singletrack trails here are great for what they are working with. The proximity to Illiniwek makes it easy to mountain bike both spots. The park has a little league diamond, bathrooms, playground and small shelter. Very safe and close to town.

Nice, smaller (81 acre), Rock Island County forest preserve park. There are three, large, regulation-type baseball fields, and a smaller t-ball field (located up a hill by itself). There is one small, roofed Pavillion, overlooking a ball diamond, that has a picnic table and a cooking grill.

Park has baseball diamonds & hike/mtn bike trails. I was here for the Mtn bike trails. Although the Quad Cities are is blessed with many off road Mtn bike trail systems, Dorrance Park is up toward the top of my choices if I'm looking for a solid flow ride. Ther are green, blue & black trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 6 mentions

“It has plenty of parking with two parking lots but does not offer camping or other things that can be found at Loud Thunder forest preserve.”

🔁 Loop trail 2 mentions

“The Black's are there, I'll add the black loop for extra mileage, however it does not flow as well & the man-made features to test your skill & balance seem a bit off.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
