Confirmed from Dorton Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
City park with a soccer field, tennis courts, a disc-golf course, play equipment & picnic shelters.

Hidden Gem in Concord: Dorton Park Delivers Fun for All Ages My wife and I, residents of Harrisburg, North Carolina, stumbled upon Dorton Park while heading to Afton Ridge for shopping—and what a delightful surprise it was!
This is a beautiful park with two large, well kept fields and bleachers. This is the perfect spot for toddlers as it's one of the few parks around with a completely enclosed playground for little ones. The other playground is great for elementary aged kids.
Nice paved path to walk the dogs on. It felt safe and close to a nice neighborhood. At first I thought the walking paths were very short, but it was much longer than I anticipated (and I couldn’t even tell you where the end was).
Great park! One of the best in the Charlotte area. It even has a merry go round. Great trails. Great field. 2 playgrounds for different ages. Picnic shelters. My kids love it.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
