Confirmed from Hector H Henry II Greenway Weddington Rd Hotel Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Hector H Henry II Greenway Weddington Rd Hotel Trailhead
I put this trail walk off for days. I had no clue where this trail ends but I was determined to take a leap forward and simply start somewhere. The location markers were perfect. Overall I walked a little under 5 miles.
This starts in the hotel parking lot and goes past the dog park. The trail that starts goes from hotel to dog park is about 1 mile long. Is isn't particularly pretty and at some parts youre walking on the sidewalk on Weddington Rd.
We walked the greenway on a cool Friday morning for 5.6 miles with no bugs and a small number of walkers and joggers. The path’s ability to remain in excellent condition after 1.5 inches of rain the evening before is a standout feature.
Trail conditions & character
“I don’t have a dog yet, but it was fun seeing all the different dogs play and mingle at the Dog Park.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
