Confirmed from Eagle Run Hiking Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area with a flat trail along the Ausable River, suitable for families.
What runners say about Eagle Run Hiking Trail
“Very beautiful spectacular place to take a lovely Family Walk or hike, great little picnic area rate on the edge of the river beautiful view.”
“Only one tree down on the trail but it was easy to navigate around.”
“It was a nice easy trailer good for families and dogs.”
Probably shouldn't have ridden (mountain bike) on these trails on an 88 degree afternoon, but we happened to be in the area. Nicely marked trails. Pretty river views. Cooled off afterwards with a dip in the lake.
Great easy trail for a short hike. I recommend Loop C for more foliage and less time around the river. You still see the floaters down the river at some spots but not as much. In the last half mile or so, listen out for a rooster! There is also tons of brambles to eat from, learned that from the rooster.
We had a wonderful afternoon of hiking, biking and bird watching. Most of the trail follows the AuSable River. The trail was clear and well marked. We will be going back again!
One of my favorite trails to run in the area and hike with family when they visit. Last time out we actually got some good eagle photos.
