Confirmed from East End Lagoon Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve featuring 684 acres of coastal prairie with opportunities for activities like fishing.
What runners say about East End Lagoon Nature Preserve
“The waves were too bad to swim but it was beautiful and lovely to walk with my family.”
“A quiet beach with only a few people throughout.”
About 700 acres with most of that being wetlands. Not much hiking, there is a half mile ada trail which leads through some palm trees and a coastal brush area near the lagoon. Nice interpretative signage along the trail. It's a good area if your looking to fish, kayak, or birdwatch. The access road needs improvement.
We went on a Thursday morning in mid-March, after a cold front came in the previous night. It was very windy, and a bit cold, no one else was there. We took our toddler, she really liked it. This is ADA accessible, with wide mowed and some poured cement paths.
It looked like a well preserved part of the island focused on nature. It features some short nature paths with plenty of benches interspersed to just sit and enjoy the view. Across the way is a deep channel where many large boats enter and leave the bay.
Paddle boarding around the lagoon is beautiful. The first parking lot on Boddecker was very easy to put in at. If you keep going down the road there’s a nice little nature trail to walk around the marsh some. It says ADA accessible, but I’m not sure how accessible it is for people.
