Confirmed from Edgebrook Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Forested preserve featuring hiking & biking trails, birding & nature observation in a spacious area.
What runners say about Edgebrook Woods
“The woods are beautiful, the venue is beautiful, and the golf course is beautiful.”
“dog walkers with their poop bags/gloves.”
Wonderful, very well-marked hiking trails and lots of room for people to get up close and personal with all that Mother Nature has to offer on the far Northwest side of Chicago. Easy places to park in multiple areas along the trail, and it is easy to bring in a bike or stroller or kids to enjoy this Trail.
There's never a bad time for a walk in the woods. Get out and recharge by spending a little time amongst nature. Early springtime visit and all the plants are budding out and greening up.
Absolutely gorgeous with perfect wind/breeze. Runners of every age..dog walkers with their poop bags/gloves. Several picnic/party shelters with plenty picnic tables. The men/women tablets are always clean and stocked with paper goods..air driers for the hands
I went to a friend's granddaughter's birthday party there. Plenty of seating and room for children to run and play, while the adults mingle and catch up on the latest. The area was clean and surprisingly, so was the porta-potty.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
