Confirmed from El Manto River Access' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Riverside area for hiking, swimming, fishing and cycling amidst trees and rocks.
What runners say about El Manto River Access
“Great access, beautiful location, lots of wildlife viewing, fishing access, just above San Juan Rapids.”
Great walking and light hiking area depending on which paths you choose to take. There is a paved trail which also has a lot of people on bicycles as well as river access. Dogs are allowed on a leash and there are public restrooms/port-a-potties too.
Accessible seclusion. Deer are common, coyotes less so but present. Blueberries and mint grow wild. Just be careful on the main trail where little men in their even littler Tour de France costumes go way too fast and will run you off the road
Crop circles made of rocks are called what? Rock circles? 😂😂 Great place to explore or Hike. It’s also along the bike trail
This is an awesome place to swim, kick back, fish, bike/hike, kayak, float ect. Lots of shallow areas but the current picks up in some areas so be careful. Lots of kid friendly spots, and pet friendly. Parking is $5 & not far from the water. There's always enough room to snag a cool spot & cool cliffs to jump off of!
Trail conditions & character
“Nice quiet space with lots of tree coverage at parking lot 1 and easy parking and river access at the end of the road.”
“It's clean and a good place to walk a dog, especially if you're the type who pick up your dog's poop.”
“Great access, beautiful location, lots of wildlife viewing, fishing access, just above San Juan Rapids.”
“Wish there had been actual restroom facilities because the porta potty stench was carried down to the water, other than that it was very refreshing”
“One of my favorite activities is walking or cycling along the paved bicycle path that winds parallel to the river from Folsom to Sacramento.”
