Confirmed from Elk Rock Island's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Tranquil island offering fishing from its rocky shores, accessible by foot when the river is low.

I took an unexpected, wandering trip around Milwaukie and figured out this beautiful park with stunning small island. I hope I can spend more time to enjoy everything in this area. Very interesting to see ducks walking and swimming amongst people on land and in water...
Nice place for swimming. The water wasn’t cold. The hiking was nice. My cat loved it. Parking was easy and only few spots to park. The places wasn’t crowded on weekday.
I like walking around here on the trails with the amazing river views. The brush covered trails had lots of poison oak. This place is very popular with the remote control 4x4 crawler crowd. There is also a very nice cove with a wonderful swimming beach.
A very nice island that is accessible only when the water level is low by a land bridge (the river rock basin). It has a real trail and it actually is kinda cute. The views are nice from there. Many people take their dogs there

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
