Confirmed from Empire State Trail - Battery Park Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Empire State Trail - Battery Park Trailhead
“However, there are some very scenic spots between 155th street and the George Washington bridge, so if its possible I would still ride it.”
The Empire State trail was recommended to me by a fellow bike lover who is a new york local, and I re-recommend this trail to all bikers i meet. I have ridden this trail many times, initially with a friend of mine who visited. This trail goes all the way up through the entirety of manhattan and into new york “state”.
Amazing end point ( or beginning) of the Epic Empire Bike Trail!!! Connected from the southern tip of Manhattan all the way to the Canadian border! Riding the entire trail from Montreal is highly recommended.
Great walk. We often spend family days just walking this trail, grabbing coffees and snacks along the way.
Walking the trail from The Battery Park on Sunday 28-Dec-2025 two days after the big snow fall was absolutely breathtaking
