Confirmed from Fickel Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fickel Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (396 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“The statues and flourishing trees are beautiful to admire while running your dog or taking a stroll through the park’s many sidewalk paths.”

🌳 shaded & cool 8 mentions

“There are two stone picnic tables, lots of shaded areas, and a nice tennis court (no lights for after sunset though fyi).”

What a beautiful day in a lovely little city! Lots of sunshine, plenty of shade, public restrooms., and tennis courts. I'm not sure if there is a playground, but there is an accessible path which runs through the park. We were there for a dog event and there was a plethora or furry, four footed friends - on leash.

Fickel Park is a great place. We often walk it. There are sidewalks all around & through it. Nice statues for viewing. From June-September there's a Farmers Market with local items. Great choices. There are also tennis courts. On Thursdays beginning in June, the Town sponsors a Farmer's Market from 4PM-7PM.

Went for the farmers market, but a lovely park right in downtown with lots of shade. Great place for a stroll or to sit and relax. Or enjoy the farmers market or multiple other events that take place here.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
