Confirmed from Fireline Trail Scenic Overlook's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fireline Trail Scenic Overlook

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (22 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“5 mile from the trail head is a picturesque overlook of the Leigh River and Leigh gorge state park.”

Parking lot of trail head is on PA 534. About 0.5 mile from the trail head is a picturesque overlook of the Leigh River and Leigh gorge state park. It is one of the most beautiful spots in park to watch sunset. But I got there at noon. Still beautiful!

Scenic vista on the FireLine trail located in Hickory Run State Park. Trail can be in and back if you park in the lot across from the Manor House Trail. Short walk to the vista that overlooks the Lehigh River! You also see the remains of what I can only assume was a bridge.

★★★★★ — Lish , Aug 2021

Can be short/direct hike to the overlook, or piece together from other trails. Not difficult, nice transitions, decent reward at the top. Was easy for non-hikers in the family and a 6-year-old. Went in July, wild blueberries were just off the trail in several sections.

★★★★★ — B , Jul 2020

A great walk in the woods. It's not a far walk from the trailhead to the vista, and there is a picnic table overlooking the vista! I It's a great place to stop and have a snack!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
