I love this park. I make it a point to visit whenever i am in the area. Great for birding and wildflowers. Lots of trail options, trails by the river and could easily make 5 miles of hiking within the park with all the loops.
I hiked on Ledges Trail from Fitzgerald Park to downtown Grand Ledge and Second Island. It's a very pleasant and scenic hike. Just watch for narrow paths, steep drops, and rocks and roots in the path! The park does leave some wanting, though.
Always a fun park to walk around and explore. I was there this past week, though, and I found two ticks on my 7-year-old, one on my 11-year-old, and one on me. We stayed on the paths the whole time. I've never had ticks on me before. They must be bad this year.
A friend and I enjoyed a hike along the river and through some of the old growth woods on this beautiful Monday. Dog friendly, kid friendly, disc golf, picnic areas, many trails with many benches, a great resource for locals and travelers alike.
