Confirmed from Flower Hill Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Steep but short trails (some unmarked) through woods and past a cliff on this park, known for rhododendrons.
What runners say about Flower Hill Nature Preserve
“It's very easy to miss from the road and doesn't look like much from the parking area, but the hike had beautiful views and cliffs!”
This is a beautiful trail to walk. It's not too long and I really enjoyed it! I took my dog, who had never walked trails before, and she did just fine. There are some awesome elevations along this trail. Be advised, if you do walk the trail to the creek, anticipate a steep incline. I was out of breath!
The trail moves along a deep ravine over Moccasin Creek. It contains Rhododendron and other mountain plants. Like Medoc Mountain it's a little geological pocket remaining from an ancient mountain range. Mid-April visit had rhododendron blooming along with wild azaelea. Fairly easy until the ravine.
Great little trail! We enjoyed a mile hike here on a lovely November weekday in the late afternoon. No one else was out, and it was beautiful! I didn't get lost, which is a concern for me and there was a pull off gravel area to park in right by the trail marker with a map, which I took a picture of before starting out.
Pretty hike with Pretty Rhododendron on the trail edge. A murky looking Moccasin creek at the end. Don’t venture far as the creek is private property.
