Confirmed from Fort Ripley Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Fort Ripley Trail
Trail was in excellent shape. Jest need to keep an eye out in the corners for the stupid people who think they are the only people on the trail. Just because you can't see around the corner doesn't mean its clear...
Just working on offroad Big Motorcycle as I'm heading out West and touring the Idaho back country. I road around the trails for a couple hours and didn't see another person or vehicle. Parking is good as I pulled in with a truck and trailer.
Had a great time riding. Only wish they had some turnout spots on the paths where normal vehicles and trucks pull in because it gets really tight.
Beautiful trails for taking the horses on an afternoon ride. Porta-potty available, no grass on trails, so no ticks, but some areas are a little rocky. Nice spot to test your horses water skills. There is a drop off close to the boat landing, so stay to the left, and you can generally ride out into the bay!

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
