Great park for hikes on the trails overlooking the ocean and the rock cliffs. Some of the cleanest clearest water in RI. Good spot to snorkel and kayak. Spearfishing too. The fort has lots of history and love Jamestown. Beavertail is a must see too. Great stop on the bike tour and with the kayaks. Fun in all seasons.
Fun time exploring, bring a flashlight if you're not scared to walk through the tunnels. The video I added was longer, but Google shortened it. Kids to adults can enjoy this place, and with all the other things to do in the area, enjoy the weekend or just go here for the day pack a lunch watch all the boats and ships…
Dramatic views of the entrance to Narragansett Bay. Great place to fish, walk, picnic and more. A natural outcropping of rocky terrain that meets the water. Once used as a fort to protect the inner coastlines, now bunkers and concrete fortifications are abandoned but host a canvas for sophomoric graffiti.
Fort Wetherill is a great place to explore on your own and at your own pace. The old concrete gun emplacements and bunkers are fascinating. It's sad to see them covered in graffiti and slowly succumbing to the ravages of time and weather but it's also kind of interesting how nature is reclaimimg the site too.
