Confirmed from Founders Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Founders Park
“The way the walking path meanders through absolutely gorgeous landscape architecture is brilliant.”
“A very quiet place for a walk and a good time with the whole family.”
Its a nice park. It's surrounded by excellent eateries & Yee Haw Brewery! Walk before &/or after dinner, or have a picnic in the park! The 2 big lawns are perfect for doggos!
This park is so perfect! It’s a great place to go if you want to go for a walk or a jog. Great place for kids to play or to bring along your dog. There are so many events all the time and it’s so well designed that there are endless places for photo ops. Absolutely love it!
Johnson City’s Founders Park is a fantastic way to get out and enjoy the amazing Christmas trees. The park is beautiful in itself so this is an added holiday bonus. So if the weather is right and the kids and/or fur kids need to run around, this is the place to go!
A beautiful green space in the middle of downtown. The rushing creek adds that beautiful, calming water feature that I love. As you walk the paved paths there are beautiful sculptures along the way as well as quotes about art and nature from famous folks.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
