Confirmed from Tweetsie Trail Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Great trail for walking for biking, well maintained and flat (which is nice for a change)”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“Easy to walk and ride bicycles, the views are beautiful until you get to Elizabethton, and it stops being fun.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“Road crossings were well marked to make it safer for all.”

Great place to go for a walk, bike ride, or run. I don't believe you'd want to skate as there are some areas of gravel. It is relatively flat, and the trails run a long way with a mixture of shade and sun. There are a few benches along the way to sit and rest at as well.

It's a beautiful scenic and historic walk. There's historical markers periodically throughout the trail. You can go from Johnson City to Elizabethton. It's an old railroad converted into a walking trail. You can do many different activities on the trail such as walk, run, and bike. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.

First time back on a trail in a while, perfect starter for new hikers. Very flat and plenty of room to walk or bike. It is nice to get out and get active on its own, but the views this trail has to offer can be incredible. We only got through the first mile and a half, but we will be back to conquer the rest!

★★★★★ — Peyton , Dec 2021

Love the trail. Easy to walk and ride bicycles, the views are beautiful until you get to Elizabethton, and it stops being fun. The only good thing is that you have plenty of places to get something to eat or drink and use the bathroom at one of the grocery stores.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
