Confirmed from Fox Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Deer & other local wildlife can frequently be seen at this city park with walking/cycling trails.
What runners say about Fox Park
“The areas are well maintained and run alongside an ever changing body of water.”
“The moment you step onto the dirt path, it’s quiet, shaded, and feels like you’re deep in nature, even though you’re never actually far from the city (or the concrete trail).”
This trailhead is conveniently located at the intersection of Hausman and JW Bacon which gives you easy access to the Hausman, Dezavala, and Babcock areas. It has water, a couple of toilets and parking is usually not full. You can also ride the multiuse path along Hausman to get to I-10 or 1604.
I went here for a morning jog and this trail was very busy which was good because i feel safer on trails when there are more people. I only ran in about a mile but it goes for miles and miles. I saw people walking, running, biking, skateboarding. It seems to be a favorite which i can see why. The trail was very wide.
Otherworldly piece of nature living peacefully in the middle of San Antonio suburbs. If you break away from the main paved path, there are numerous trails to explore where you might go thirty minutes without seeing people even on a busy day.
Very nice park with walking, hiking, and biking with side trails. Nicely maintained with parking and port-a-pots at the entrance. Trails connected to other parks along the green belt. The side trails are mostly for bikes with jumps, twists and turns. In the evening you will see deer and sometimes buzzards.
Trail conditions & character
“The Leon Creek Greenway has a nice mixture of paved and dirt trails for our dog walks”
“I love that there’s a main concrete trail that’s perfect for running and biking, but right alongside it, there’s a dirt trail that feels like a completely different world.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
