Confirmed from Fox Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fox Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (45 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“Near the top of the first quarter of the trail is a clearing with some benches and a beautiful view.”

🪧 well-marked 5 mentions

“The trail is well marked and had an additional side trail.”

👟 good for all levels 6 mentions

“Beautiful scenery, fairly easy walking, and lots of wildlife.”

Lovely hiking path. However, an un-leashed large brown/black dog fiercely chased my sister and I off the trail. Might have come from the private residence that borders the trail. When it ran barking at us, the adrenaline pumped intensely.

What a little secret this place is! I googled it this Am, brought my 2 yr old twins and 5lb chihuahua, and we had ourselves a time! Beautiful scenery, fairly easy walking, and lots of wildlife. I highly recommend this little spot. Also, we didn’t have any run ins with big dogs. We didn’t run into anyone at all!

Just off River Road with plenty of paved parking, this .87 mile loop boasts views of the Mohawk River and a dirt/rocky trail. The trail takes you through some forest vegetation, so wear long pants, bug spray, and check yourself for ticks immediately afterward.

★★★★★ — Petra , Aug 2018

Beautiful park for those that love wilderness. It's a moderate walk all the way around with hills. Very young children and the elderly may have some difficulty. Lots and lots of birds, some rabbits. Primitive facilities include a picnic table and bike rack. Excellent view of the Mohawk!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
